STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS

A trustee’s job is to ensure that the community college district fulfills its responsibility to lead and serve its ever-changing community while guided by the values of equity, access and success. Trustees ensure that district policy aligns with state legislation to support student-centered outcomes and oversee responsible fiscal management of the budget. This position requires management and oversight experience, the ability to collaborate with fellow trustees and community partners to identify solutions and areas for improvement, and the commitment to put in the necessary work to support the district’s goals.

With a combined background of experience as a casting producer — which entailed on-site management of casting calls nationwide — and, more recently, a director of marketing for a local marketing agency, my work history includes management and consulting experience, and the ability to meet the needs of multiple clients each day, through a variety of different projects and deadlines. I bring to the table experience in working for a local business in the private sector and an understanding of what local businesses and employers need: a locally trained workforce that can contribute and participate in our business economy.

Further, as a founding member and vice president of 100% volunteer-run nonprofit Conejo Community Outreach,
my experience in running a diaper bank for the county that provides more than 30,000 diapers each month to more than 400 children throughout the county, has equipped me with coalition-building skills and the ability to develop multiple collaborative relationships with organizations and nonprofits county-wide. During a global pandemic, when other resources were shutting down, we not only sustained our diaper bank, but grew to meet the needs of the community by more than 300%. My blog is the nonprofit’s primary fundraising source.

As a long-time supporter of public schools, and as a parent volunteer for my daughters’ school, I am fully committed to and passionate about the role education plays in a person’s life and the opportunities it can provide. Everyone should have this access. I have a flexible job schedule and supportive nonprofit board members and family that support my campaign and will enable me to be fully present and engaged in this position. I will bring my collective experience to this role and will put the time in to research issues thoroughly to contribute to a sound decision-making process that keeps student success at the forefront of the conversation.
